Our standards

WHAT WE LEAVE OUT

No parabens. No phthalates. No synthetic dyes. No SLS or SLES. No formaldehyde
releasers. No fragrance oils in any product where an essential oil does the job.

WHAT WE PUT IN

Food-grade and organic wherever we can source it honestly. On every label, an
asterisk marks a certified organic ingredient and a plus marks a food-grade one.
We do not use those marks loosely.

Our ingredient decks are short on purpose. The longest one we print runs seven
lines. Most run three or four. If a formula needs a dozen ingredients to work,
we would rather not sell it.

HOW WE MAKE IT

Cold-process soap, cured four weeks on an open rack. Scrubs and butters blended
in small runs and jarred by hand. Tallow rendered from grass-fed beef, filtered
clean, with nothing added but oil and scent.

TESTING

Never on animals. Every new formula is tested on us first, then on a small group
of people who have agreed to it, over several weeks. Nothing goes on the site
until it has been through that.

WHAT WE DO NOT CLAIM

We are not certified organic as a company. We do not claim our products treat,
cure or prevent anything. They are cosmetics — they clean, exfoliate and
moisturize, and that is what we will tell you they do.

including ours.
